Eight awards are a lot for a film which premiered only three months ago at Animafest, where it won Best Croatian Animated Film Award and few days later Jury Mention at Annecy. Fifty festival competition programs are also a lot, especially when it include festivals such as OIAF (Ottawa) or Hiroshima. That international festival of animated film is a biennial event taking place every two years at the end of August. It is considered to be one of the most prestigious festivals in the world. Hiroshima International Animation Festival was founded in 1985 to commemorate forty years since the atomic bombing. Competition programs usually attract more than 2000 entries and in five days the festival is visited by more than 33000 people.
Cyclists were featured in the main international competition program, which was juried by Ishu Patel, Priit Pärn, Oxana Cherkasova, Isabelle Favez, and Masao Maruyama. We are happy to say that the film won one of the festival Special Awards. Congrats to Veljko!
