At the 61st Krakow Film Festival, held May 30 – June 6, Daniel Gray’s Hide, a somber story about the alienation of family members, received the Jury Award for Best European Film, which makes it Krakow FF’s candidate for the European Film Award in the short film category.
The jury praised the film with the following statement, “the stunning animation, sound design and cinematography powerfully convey an increasingly fragmented and unrecognizable world.”
At the festival in Krakow Hide also won the Don Quixote Award, bestowed by the International Federation of Film Societies (FICC/IFFS).
At the World Festival of Animated Film – Animafest Zagreb, held in Zagreb, June 7 – 12, the film received a special award presented by jury member Shoko Hara. “The feeling of separation, longing, impossibility of action is told in a metaphorically dark world by strong surreal visual language. It is a sentimental personal journey to the end of innocence” said Hara’s statement.
