Nine minute film Simulacra by Ivana Bošnjak and Thomas Johnsona just won the Grand Prix at the StopTrik International Film Festival in Maribor, Slovenia (3 – 5 Oct). The award was juried by the audience of the city of Maribor. It is the fourth award for the film which was, since its premiere in April, screened at 27 film festivals internationally.
The fourth edition of the StopTrik International Film Festival – the only European festival dedicated to art of stop animation – finished its first festival stage in Maribor. By the end of October and in November Festival moves to Poland, where it will be presented in two different cities. Beside competition programs, StopTrik screened films from the rich history of European puppet animation and curated special programs dedicated to cut-out films.
Simulacra travels to Belgrade tomorrow to be screened in competition at Balkanima European Festival of Animated Film, and by the end of this week will be screened in competition of the festivals throughout Europe: Sitges (Spain), Anim'est (Romania), Sedicicorto (Italy), Tofuzi (Georgia).
