European Film Festival in Palić in Serbia gathered a strong competition program with new films by Sergei Loznitsa, Andrey Zvyagintsev, Agnieszka Holland and many others. Great competition had a powerful jury as well – with Cristi Puiu and Tihana Lazović, to name just a few members. Special Mention for Igor Bezinović’s debut feature A Brief Excursion is something to be very happy about. Jury explained their choice with a great statement: "For it’s slow-building storytelling and for the debuting director’s liberating venture into feature filmmaking." Main festival prize, the Palić Tower, went to Axolotl Overkill by Helena Hegemann.
A Brief Excursion premiered at Rotterdam Festival in February 2017. It was screened afterwards in Isola, Slovenia at Kino Otok and Underhill Fest in Podgorica, Montenegro. At the International Film Festival Andrei Tarkovsky in Russia it won the Best Director Award and the Voice Prize, and it just won the Grand Golden Arena at Pula Film Festival.
