This year, the festival is taking place 12th – 19th November, while Dea Jagić’s Shadows will screen in the international short film competition. ZINEBI is one of the most prominent short film festivals in Europe and an Oscar-qualifying festival, while the winning titles also enter the running for nominations for the BAFTAs, European Film Awards and Goya Awards. In the international competition, Shadows is competing alongside 54 other titles.
Shadows is an allegorical story about battling one’s demons, told through an unusual combination of 2D and stop motion animation. A girl gathers precious seeds that quickly sprout, grow and bear fruit. On the surface, it all seems idyllic, but the real battle it being waged underground, as dangerous creatures from the dark try to get hold of the seeds. Amidst the turmoil, only the strongest, the ones that have overcome all obstacles, will manage to break through… The film is a Kreativni Sindikat production.
