International Short Film Festival in Oberhausen is one of the oldest and most respectable short film festivals in the world, whose this year’s 65th edition will be held from May 1st to 6th.
This year we are happy to have two films in the international competition. Stop motion animated film Imbued Life focuses on a young woman who returns the stuffed animals to their natural habitat. This is the second film by the directors Ivana Bošnjak and Thomas Johnson after their successful debut Simulacra.
Yet Another Departure, a new experimental film by Renata Poljak, produced by REA Association for Contemporary Artistic and Architectural Productions, also competes at this year's Oberhausen. The film shows remains of an ex-admiral Jugoslavian navy ship Vis, purposely sunk in 2016 in order to become an attraction for divers. The ship is located near Brijuni Islands, where in 1956 Tito together with Nasser and Nehru started working on the Non-Aligned Movement.
Besides these two films in competition, Orbit by Tess Martin will be presented in Go Shorts Festival's special program focused on some of the most exciting new Dutch short films. Orbit premiered this year in Rotterdam.
