We have just finished a new film by American filmmaker and professor Alexander Stewart, who spent a substantial part of the year 2014 researching Croatian experimental animation film in Zagreb and its surroundings (we wrote about it here). Part of his stay was reserved for the creation of his new film Here There, produced by Bonobostudio. The film has been finished recently and is now ready for its international premiere.
Here There is a five-minute abstract-figurative experiment. The author himself explains it as a travel diary, in which over time, as we progress further away in time and space from the actual events, similar motifs transform and reduce from clear lines and objects to color planes and abstract impressions.
A small team from Bonobostudio in Zagreb helped Alexander on his film: Darko Masnec, Ivan Košutić, Jelena Oroz, Mario Kalogjera and Gideon Kiers.
Alexander Stewart directed many noteworthy experimental films. He is co-founder of Eyeworks, an experimental animation film festival, and a professor at DePaul University in Chicago. We recommend a great interview with Stewart at the Edge of Frame website, in which he also discusses his new film Here There.
