Animated-documentary film Father, Bulgarian-Croatian-German co-production by Ivan Bogdanov and 5 different directors (Veljko Popović is one of them) will be screened in the International Competition of the 35th International Short Film Festival in Clermont-Ferrand, and Nightingales in December by Theodore Ushev in its Lab Competition.
The festival in Clermont-Ferrand is one of the biggest and definitely the most prestigious short film festival in the world with approximately 7 thousand film submissions per year. The festival shows up to 180 films in its 3 competitions: national programme showing French films, international with short films of all genres from all over the world, and Lab competition, also known as the most progressive and most experimental.
The festival is accompanied by the biggest short film market which brings hundreds of producers, distributors, programmers and buyers interested in short film into one place. It is also a place for promotion of national productions presented in the market, and Croatia will be among them for the third time with a stand organized by Croatian Audiovisual Centre and other activities aimed to promote new Croatian short films. Another part of the festival devoted to film professionals is the co-production forum Euro Connection where Father was presented in 2010.
The 2013 Clermont Ferrand festival edition, which will take place from 1st until 9h of February, is already taking shape: we have learned about the films in competitions, we know the famous filmmaker and animator Jonas Odell will be one of the Lab jury members, and we also know that the festival poster was designed by Theodore Ushev whose film Nightingales in December is distributed by Bonobostudio.
