One of the oldest animation festivals, the World Festival of Animated Film – Animafest Zagreb, this year takes place 6th–11th June and it will showcase as many as three films distributed by Bonobostudio.
Darko Masnec’ animated Salute to the Sun will have its world premiere in the Short Film Grand Competition – while also screening in the Croatian Film Competition.
Animafest this year received close to 1800 submissions from 91 countries, while 47 films have been selected for the Short Film Grand Competition.
The Croatian Film Competition will feature 18 titles, including Jelena Oroz’ Letters from the Edge of the Forest. The animated short relates the story of a group of forest animals who embark on the adventure of learning to write, while the screening at Animafest will mark the global premiere of this award-winning author’s latest film. The film is a Bonobostudio production.
The animated documentaries program section at Animafest will present Miloš Tomić’s My Father’s Damn Camera! It has appeared at a string of festivals including Interfilm Berlin and PÖFF Shorts.
After Animafest, My Father’s Damn Camera! will continue its festival run at the International Animation Film Festival, one of the biggest and most influential animation festivals in the world, this year held 13th–18th June. Tomić’s film combining different types of animation has been selected for the Perspectives competition program, where it will compete against 16 other films for festival prizes. Annecy IAFF this year received over 3000 films from around one hundred countries.
