Accompanied by a talking cat, a woman suffering from burnout embarks on a magical journey through the underworld, where she discovers renewed vitality and ultimately awakens from her deep sleep.

After obtaining a master's degree in Art History at Ghent University, Anne Verbeure immersed herself in film studies. She studied scriptwriting and film direction at RITCS Brussels before entering the MA Animation Film track at KASK & Conservatorium (School of Arts Ghent). In animation, she found a medium to bridge theoretical research and artistic practice. She graduated with the award-winning short film Red Giant, winning the 2021 Flanders Audiovisual Fund (VAF) Wild Card. Her directorial debut, The Golden Donkey, travelled the international short film circuit and won the Author Award at the 2025 ANIMA Festival in Brussels. A Sleeping Fire is her second professional film.
