Animated documentary film Musical Traumas by Miloš Tomić won last weekend Grand Prix for Best Animated Film at Supertoon. ‘The festival in flip-flops’, which took place July 22 – 27 in Šibenik, Croatia, presented a very strong competition of animated films featuring works such as Negative Space by Max Porter and Ru Kuwahata, a 2018 Oscar nominee, but also many new films from Bonobostudio production (Two For Two by Jelena Oroz) and distribution (Cyclists, How Steel Was Tempered). We have to mention the excellent jury of the Animated and Student competition; together with Joni Männistö, it included two fantastic artists, Dunja Janković and Eva Cvijanović. And this is their take on Musical Traumas: “A multilayered celebration of failure, this film explores deep issues in a light and comical way.”
Straight after Supertoon, Miloš Tomić’s catalogue of traumas and confessions from former music school students found its way to Kinemastik Festival in Valletta, Malta. It took place over the weekend (July 27 – 29) and Musical Traumas won the festival Special Mention prize. We can only say what a great end of July for Miloš Tomić!
