Nightbloom, a short animation directed by Kata Gugić and produced by Bonobostudio, takes home two awards from the just completed CEE Animation Forum, scoring Best Short Film and the 35,000 € worth Ciclic Animation Residency in France.

The short film jury at the 2023 CEE Animation Forum awarded Nightbloom “for the quality of the artists’ research, their originality, and their capacity to experiment with narrative through the creation of an entertaining and pop universe”.

Nightbloom, a 2D ‘ode to the night’, will continue its production at the Ciclic Residency in Vendôme, France, that provides directors and their teams with the equipment they need for filmmaking and serves as the ideal workspace to get immersed in making an animated film.

The CEE Animation Forum is the largest industry and pitching platform for European animated projects in the CEE region, while Nightbloom was able to qualify after being awarded at the Rise&Shine Animation Pitching Lab at the 2022 Animateka festival in Ljubljana.

At this year’s CEE Animation Forum, a total of 28 projects were presented in four main competitions, while the juries presented awards to a total of 12 animated works. The total budget of all 28 pitching projects reaches a staggering €29 million, showcasing the ambitious scale and potential impact of these productions. Source: www.ceeanimation.eu
