We are thrilled to announce that Symbionts, directed by Quirijn Dees and produced by Lucerne School of Design, Film and Art, Switzerland, has been selected for the Off-Limits short film program at Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2026 (June 21–27)!

This short experimental animation traces an organic cycle of interaction within an unfamiliar ecosystem: one shape liquefies, another multiplies in vibrant entanglement, while a third convulses under parasitic attack, revealing both radiant beauty and relentless violence.

The Off-Limits program highlights daring filmmakers pushing the boundaries of animation through hybrid techniques, graphic exploration, and experimental forms where animation, live action, and special effects converge in unexpected ways.
