Theodor Ushev's Sonámbulo will have its North American premiere at the Toronto Film Festival!

This week marks the start of one of the most influential North American festivals, Toronto International Film Festival (September 10 – 20). Hundreds of films of all genres and lengths are presented at TIFF, with a great number of experimental and animated films among them.

September 13, 14 and 19 we are announcing three screenings of Sonámbulo by Theodore Ushev in the short film competition program.  The film was produced by the Canadian company Unité centrale, music was composed by a Bulgarian musician Nikola Gruev – Kottarashky, and the film was inspired by Romance Sonámbulo by a Spanish poet Federico García Lorca and surrealists’ paintings.

Sonámbulo has around forty festival screenings so far, among them at Annecy, Anima Mundi, Melbourne, Sao Paulo, with Encounters, Ottawa and more festivals coming up after September. The film won three awards – at Animafest Zagreb, Fest Anča and Animator Poznan – and it premiered at Holland Animation Film Festival at the end of this March.

Prepare for the screening at TIFF with a short introduction to Theodore Ushev. Here is a great interview for Zippy Frames with Vassilis Kroustallis and with Jozef Siroka for Canadian La Presse (French only). And follow the film tour in our calendar and on Twiter.
