6th International Film Festival For Kids KIKI, Zabok, Croatia, presented a very strong selection and competition of about 30 international children’s films. Business as usual. But this is the first time in history of the festival that the award went to a Croatian film! We are so happy to see Eva Cvijanović’s Hedgehog Home as the first local winner of this award at KIKI.
Children’s Jury explained their choice: “Film is an adaptation of a very famous fable. As we all know, it is about a Hedgehog who loves his home the most of all, and that’s why all the other forest animals make fun of him. We loved the puppet animation, a very complex technique. From the beginning of the film the characters and scenes are followed by great music, very fitting to everything we see on the screen. We were very impressed to hear that only one actor gave voice to all the characters just by slightly changing his voice.”
As for the Croatian festival tour, our next stop is Filmska runda in Osijek (26–28 May), VAFI in Varaždin (30 May – 4 June), Animafest in Zagreb (5–10. June) and Mediterranean Film Festival in Split (8–17 June).
