Despite restrictions and the cancelation of a great number of festivals and events, Viennese festival Tricky Women/Tricky Realities, focusing primarily on animated films by female authors, was successfully held last week, albeit in shortened form. Only the jury members were able to see all the films in competition, subsequently presenting the awards, of which Imbued Life won a Special Mention.
“With elaborate details of characters, animals and environment, the filmmakers invite us to reflect on the memory of animals as well as on the capacity of film to capture our experiences. The undeveloped films in the bodies of the animals and of the main character seem like a promise of a future where humans and animals connect on a deeper level, truly becoming companion species,” said the jury statement.
Award-winning Imbued Life takes us into the unusual world of a young woman connecting with Nature’s energy using her talent for taxidermy to “restore” the dead animals to their natural environment.
