Father’s US premiere brought the film its first US award! Animated omnibus made by six directors – Ivan Bogdanov, Moritz Mayerhofer, Asparuh Petrov, Rositsa Raleva, Veljko Popović, and Dmitry Yagodin – was awarded as the Best Animated Documentary at the Chicago International Children's Film Festival.

Festival awarded one more Croatian film: Food Chain from FKVK Zaprešić as the Best Production in the Animated Film for Children.

Festival takes place for 31 years in Chicago and is the first competition festival of animated film for children in the US. It is also the only children’s festival in the world that is recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as an Academy qualifying festival. Top prize winners from the Adult juries in the categories of live action short film and animated short film qualify to be seen by the Academy's nomination committee.
