Dove sei, amor mio is the Best Animated Film for Adults at Anifest Rozafa and... more
Most important news arrive from Finland and the Netherlands: Hunger by Petra Zlonoga is selected for the international competition program at Tampere Film Festival (4 – 8 March), and Simulacra for the competition program at Holland Animation Film Festival (18 – 22 March). Tampere celebrates 45th birthday this year and is one of the most important – and certainly one of the oldest – short film festivals in world. Holland Animation Film Festival is a member of Cartoon d'Or, and takes place since 1985.
Both films also often screen together at film festivals – although they are very different in style, technique any story. Next one is Tricky Women Vienna (11 – 15 March), a festival dedicated to women in animation. Hunger will be presented in both competition program and a special program – where Simulacra will join in. Great compilation of Croatian animators, called Tough Cookies, includes powerful films made by women in the past five to six years: Always or Never? by Jelena Oroz and her new film Wolf Games, Bla by Martina Meštrović or Miramare by Michaela Mueller…
Hunger, Simulacra and Always or Never? will also be presented at Monstra Lisbon (12 – 22 March). Very interesting competition program of animated films includes authors awarded in the past year at the most important film festivals in the world, including also an Oscar nominee.
Films Hunger by Petra Zlonoga and Simulacra by Ivana Bošnjak and Thomas Johnson were screened in the last year at about forty film festivals each and won together ten awards and special mentions.
