Annecy 2025 (June 8-14) official short film selections are announced with two Bonobostudio films from distribution roster in it: Dollhouse Elephant by Jenny Jokela (Short Film Competition) and Fačuk by Maida Srabović (Perspectives Short Film Competition).

Congrats to Jenny and Maida and their film crews for this valuable recognition!

Following her succesful self-produced film, Sweet Like Lemons (2023), Finnish author Jenny Jokela is presenting Dollhouse Elephant (2025), a Böhle Studios produced 2D and acrylic-on-paper movie that follows a group of neighbours, each focused on their own goals, who must learn to communicate and consider one another.

Jenny works as an independent animation director and artist. Her films have received multiple awards, including the Annecy Cristal for Best Graduation Film in 2018 for Barbeque (2017). Her previous film, Sweet Like Lemons (2023, distributed by Bonobostudio), premiered at Annecy International Animation Festival, with around 80 festival screenings, as well as a handful of awards.

Inspired by the artworks of Mijo Kovačić, a Croatian painter and Naïve artist, Fačuk by Maida Srabović takes place in a God-fearing village nestled between two rivers, where giving birth to a so-called fačuk (an illegitimate child) is a mortal sin. Everyone in the village recoils from the young pregnant woman who is about to give birth. In this narrow-minded and harsh rural environment, fear grows inside her. This is the first film which Maida Srabović (1986, Koprivnica) wrote, directed, and produced. It will have its world premiere at Animafest Zagreb.
