Veljko and Milivoj Popović’s VR project Dislocation had its world premiere at renowned Ottawa International Animation Festival, where it won the award for Best Virtual Reality.
Dislocation follows the protagonist around various locations – a beach on the coast of Greece, a desert border between Mexico and the United States and a forest in the Balkans, while at the same time allowing us to entering the mind of the protagonist – the memories of a life that has been lost which are beginning to fade.
Dislocation was created using 3D and 2D animation and motion capture technology, in collaboration with dancer Alen Čelić and choreographer Nikolina Dolfić.
Since 2016, Annecy International Animation Festival offers a separate category highlighting VR projects, competing for the Cristal Award for Best VR Project, chosen by a specialized jury. Dislocation is one of nine films in the running, selected among 75 submitted projects from 26 countries.
