Animated short Arka, directed by Natko Stipaničev, to screen in Annecy International Animated Film Festival official competition, this year held online.

Arka has been selected for screening in the Official Short Film Competition at Annecy International Animation Film Festival which will be held June 15–20.

Arka, a grotesque story about a grandiose transoceanic cruise ship sailing the seas, is Natko Stipaničev’s debut professional film. The young animation artist earned his BA in Film and Video from the Arts Academy in Split and his MA from the Department of Animated Film and New Media of the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb.

This year, the festival organizers have reported receiving over 3 thousand film applications, of which 179 films have been selected for screening in different programs, while 37 of them will be featured in the Official Short Film Competition. The in-person edition of Annecy IAFF, as well as the accompanying market, MIFA, have been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, the festival will be held in digital form, while the grand 60th jubilee celebration will be held next year.
