Arka at Animafest and Anifilm

Animated short Arka, directed by Natko Stipaničev, to screen at Animafest Zagreb and at Czech festival Anifilm.

Arka is scheduled to have its world premiere at the World Festival of Animated film – Animafest Zagreb, where it has been selected for screening in two categories – the Grand Competition - Short Film and the Croatian Competition. This year, Animafest Zagreb should be held 8th – 13th June.   

In addition, Arka, a grotesque story about a lavish transoceanic cruise ship sailing the seas, has been selected to screen in competition of the International Festival of Animated Films – Anifilm, which was to be held 5th – 10th May in the Czech town of Liberec, however, due to the spread of the coronavirus, the festival has been postponed and will be held later this year, 6th – 11th October.    

Arka is the first professional film for Natko Stipaničev, who earned his BA in Film and Video from the Arts Academy in Split and his MA from the Department of Animated Film and New Media of the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. His award-winning graduation film The Dance is Over Maria was screened at as many as 20 festivals around the globe.
