This year’s edition of Animafest, held Sept 28 – Oct 3, closed with the award ceremony, with two films distributed by Bonobostudio taking home awards in the Croatian Film Competition.

Natko Stipaničev’s Arka was awarded best film in the Croatian Film Competition. “It is a film that displays carefully made choices in offering a highly creative vision of a slowly but surely sinking world,” said the jury statement.

Marko Dješka received a special mention in the Croatian Film Competition for All Those Sensations in my Belly, being “cleverly animated documentary tackling a strong subject,” explained the jury.

During the festival, the awards of ASIFA Croatia were also presented. Once again, Natko Stipaničev’s Arka scooped up another accolade being awarded the ASIFA Croatia Award for Best Professional Film in 2020. The best student film according to ASIFA Croatia was Cockpera directed by Kata Gugić.

The World Festival of Animated Film – Animafest Zagreb is held since 1972 and it is the second oldest festival dedicated entirely to animated film. This year, the festival was postponed from its traditional date in June to September and October due to the coronavirus epidemic.
