Archeo 29 by Vladislav Knežević was produced by Bonobostudio in 2010, and now it got a new, 3D stereoscopic version to be screened as a special programme at the International Experimental Film and Video Festival 25 FPS, taking place at the Zagreb Student Centre, 20-25 September 2011. A short presentation will precede the screening on 22 September, 3pm, at Klub SC. Afterwards, the visitors of 25 FPS will have a chance to see the film every day until Saturday at 7pm on a 3D television set, courtesy of Livada Productions.
The stereoscopic image of Archeo 29 is the work of Mario Kalogjera, also in charge of animation, compositing and special effects on the first version of the film.
A research of media forms through history was the central idea of Archeo 29. Archaeological ‘digging’ is also evident in the processing and use of archive material – from cut-out newspaper photos to the stereoscopic technology enabling the viewer an entirely new and unique film experience.
In Archeo 29, filmmaker Vladislav Knežević uses an associative series of photographs from the illustrated magazines from 1929 to compile a film journal of serenity before a large crisis, war and world division, where images of carefree leisure intertwine with those of an upcoming disaster.
Archeo 29 still provokes interest of international film festivals; in the following month it will take part in the programmes of film festivals in Ourense, Lille and Jihlava.
