10th edition of Animateka – international film festival dedicated solely to the art of animation – starts today in Ljubljana! The festival will take place from 2nd to 8th of December, presenting very strong competition programs (international, student) and interesting side programs (Czech animation, programme of dance animation films, Cartoon d'Or…) in a week filled with great short animated films. Main competition features two Croatian films which will be discussed by Vanja Andrijević as a member of Animateka’s jury together with Dennis Tupicoff, Jonathan Hodgson, Chris Robinson and Theodore Ushev, whose film Rossignols en décembre is also distributed by Bonobostudio.
Each member of the jury will present a film program, so on Friday, December 6th at 4 PM at Kinodvor the audience is invited for a 70-minute programme curated by Vanja Andrijević with films produced at Bonobostudio in the past three years.
This year Animateka organizes an Open Platform, a forum for presentation of animated film projects in different phases of production. On Saturday, 7th of December at 1 PM Open Platform will be the place to learn about the projects in production at Bonobostudio that will be completed in January 2014: Hunger by Petra Zlonoga, a classic pencil and ink on paper animation, and a puppet film Simulacra by Ivana Bošnjak and Thomas Johnson.
Ivana and Thomas are also the authors of one of the three animated greeting cards awarded at the AnimaWeb Competition for Animateka’s 10th birthday. The short ‘greeting clip’ will be screened before the film programs during the Animateka festival.
