Alternative Film/Video – Important Cinematic Works

Dalibor Barić's film was highlighted as an important film in a strong competition program and from a very fierce jury!

Alternative Film/Video Festival jury members, Marina Gržinić, Eve Heller and Peter Tscherkassky, have included Dalibor Barić's film on the list of Important Cinematic Works of the Festival. This is their explanation: "Unknown Energies, Unidentified Emotions by Dalibor Barić weaves an intricate narrative web spun out of science fiction and psychotronic film tradition, in the form of elaborate layers of collage and voice-over dialogue. It is a work that ambitiously speaks to our current world intricately infested by virtual communication, fictional presentations of personal identities and manipulative representations of socio-political realities, a world ever under the threat of disempowering solipsistic tendencies."

The award is the residency program at which authors can work on their new film/video produced by the Academic Film Centre (AFC) with full use of all production facilities and technical equipment for 3 weeks prior to the next edition of the festival.

The film was awarded at the Croatian Film Days (Script; Sound Design), Be There! Festival (Best Feature), Pula Film Festival (Vedran Šamanović Award), Festival of Different and Experimental Cinema and at Videomedeja (Sphinx Award).
